Video Killed The Radio Star

There are moments when pieces of your life intersect. When seemingly independent tasks fall in alignment with each other and you start to wonder if maybe all along this was “the plan”.

Or possibly it’s just my wiring which tends to look for the patterns or purpose or big picture in life. (“Deep Thoughts” Jack Handey and I would get along swimmingly)

This week both audio and visual updates have a video to share. You will notice that my video skills are leveling-up as I learned how to incorporate my lettering graphics INTO videos. You would have thought I split the atom with how proud I was (poor Dean couldn’t get any work done because I kept interrupting him with “Look at this!!!”)

I’ll give a brief set-up on each video and then let ‘em roll.

We got another response from Washington from one of our 50 shirts. This time was from Representative Tlaib, from Michigan’s 13th district.

For those who may have missed it, in celebration of the historic mid-term election in 2018 (more women elected to Congress than ever before) we sent 50 “A Women’s Place is in the House and the Senate” shirts to Washington D.C.

If you wanna recap, you can watch video of the process of calling all 50 offices here or watch the final steps of shipping them here.

As always, I wait to open any letter sent so that you can watch along with. (Not sure if it matters or not, but now it’s become “a thing” I do)

BONUS: I was in the studio recording Jen Hatmaker’s new book “7 Days of Christmas” so I tacked on a “Fun Things I Got Paid to Say” at the end.

Made huge progress this week by creating a fun 1-minute video to introduce myself to publishers I haven’t previously worked with.

There are a few things that have me jazzed about this video:

Incorporated my lettering work.

The tone/vibe felt like ME.

I can replicate this type of video for future ones to stay on someone’s radar.

I know that there are some people who won’t dig it, but I’m totes OK with that because I don’t need everyone to like it. Anyone who watches this and thinks “yeesh, this gal is weird” isn’t going to be a fit for me. But I believe some people will think “I like the cut of her jib, lemme keep an eye on this one.”

I’ll share more about the process of creating the video on a future post, but without further ado I give you my NEW Introduction video.
