The Votes Are In

Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote regarding my Typism Selfie. You may have noticed on social media that the Pointer image won the vote. For funsies, I created a graph to show the final breakdown of votes.

In other voting news, I found out this week that I have been nominated for a Voice Arts Award! (Keeping it real, I didn’t know what that was either, but a quick Google search confirmed that it’s a pretty big deal.)

Voice Arts Awards…honor the community of performers and craft professionals who perform, direct, produce, cast, engineer, and publish media productions where voice acting is a central creative element of the work. (it’s like the Oscars for the VO world)

While I’m quite sure this will end in the “it was a thrill just to be nominated” scenario, it is a huge boost to the ol’ confidence and gives me another title to throw around at opportune moments. “Sorry Dean, Voice Arts Award Nominees are exempt from cleaning bathrooms. Thems the rules.”

For those who may been experiencing a “confidence dry spell,” please know that everyone has been there. No one is immune from the various doubts and uncertainties that can creep in and whisper all your greatest fears about what everyone REALLY thinks of you and your abilities.

The true test is not whether or not those gremlins show up #theywill It’s do you give them an audience to their one-person show “Guess Who Sucks and Has No Talent?”

The best antidote I have found when I’m feeling a bit low, no matter the reason, is gratitude.  It’s an all-around better way to view the world because there will always be things that don’t go the way we want, but if we keep our focus on what we appreciate, it tends to lessen the sting of the suckier stuff and actually helps us see how much good there is around us. #happymagnet

Finally, I did want to share that I am working out some new ideas with hole-punch art. While I will be doing some more animals, I also wanted to experiment with more whimsical characters.

I’m still deciding what I’ll be doing with it, but I’m pleased that this style continues to spark more ideas.

Thanks again for allowing me to drop into your inbox. Please share this post with anyone you know who may enjoy this type of content and until next time…keep creating and connecting.
