We are now up to 20-hours on this hole-punch pointillism bird, which is a quarter of the way through my estimated 80-hours to complete the artwork. At this point, I’m thinking the estimate is gonna be pretty accurate.
I continue to enjoy this style and refine how I work with the dots. You wouldn’t think there would be much to gluing hole-punches to a page, but there is quite a bit of color theory and how our brain processes information that are in play. #graphicnerd
Participating in ArtPrize continues to feel more real to me. I’m finalizing the contract agreement with my hosting venue and I got connected to a private Facebook page with all the participating artists.
I don’t know the final count at this point, but last year there were over 1,700 artists from around the world who were part of ArtPrize. As I am meeting this year’s participants, I truly feel honored to be in the mix. #lotsatalent
This year they are encouraging more communication between the artists to foster more connections and also because they added a category to the competition called Artist-to-Artist.
Each artist will be able to vote for a single artist they believe is deserving of this peer award. Underneath the description of this category it said, “You can NOT vote for yourself.” I found that both hilarious and a sad commentary on our society that it needed to be explicitly said.
There will be plenty of opportunity to share about this experience through social media, especially throughout the 18 days of the event. My social media presence has been lacking as I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the various platforms and which one to focus one.
Fortunately, ArtPrize is giving a tool kit and helpful tips about how to share via social media. This may be a way for me to find my groove and get more comfortable with posting on the regular, which I haven’t really done since my 2-year daily posting challenge.

I’ll leave you with one final thought; not all ideas are good, so when you are brainstorming for a solution make sure you have people in your life who will tell you the truth when an idea comes up short.
This is an actual license plate I saw while running errands the other day. I’m all for someone celebrating their vocation, just be sure you aren’t declaring an unsavory statement about yourself in the process.
