I’m So Excited and Hell No I’m Not Gonna Hide It!

Last week I shared a couple of happy highlights and was so delighted at the number of you who reached out to share your thoughts about how to deal with doubt and what it looks like to work toward something you want.  #yourock

No one is immune from disappointment and if you are stretching yourself to reach next levels or acquire new skills, it’s only a matter of time before you experience some type of discouragement or rejection.

However, today my friends, is not a disappointment day.  We will save the encouraging pep talk for another time, because today we are talking about victories. Specifically a win that came my way this past week that I STILL can’t stop smiling about.

As I had mentioned, I submitted some lettering artwork to a competition where over 4,000 pieces of artwork were sent in from around the world and only 190 would be selected to be printed in Typism Book 8.

Well kids, I found out at the end of last week the judges selected my artwork!! #PublishedArtist

It was actually the first piece I created for my February challenge and provided to you fine folks as a FREE DOWNLOADABLE SCREEN SAVER. For those who missed taking advantage of that, here’s another chance to use my “AWARD WINNING” artwork on your phone.

There will be more to share as this process continues to roll out, but I just want to say that I am so thrilled and still kinda can’t believe it.

One of the things they ask the artists to do when they get their copy of the book is to take a Typism Book Selfie with the page of their artwork. As I’m thinking through what I’ll want that to look like, I pulled examples of what others have done and then did a rough mockup in Photoshop to get the ideas flowing.

Of course, as awesome as this is, it isn’t my end game just a lovely stop along the way.

I attribute this moment 100% to the fact that I keep showing up and doing the work. So when things are feeling bleak, as they sometimes will, remember that even when the win doesn’t happen, it just means your moment to shine is still ahead of you.

Thanks for listening. If you enjoy these posts, please reply with any thoughts you have or post a comment. And consider sharing this post with a friend.

Remember, everyone is born creative, it’s just a matter of how intentionally you want to use it.
