For The Love

So it’s February, we bid adieu to January and move on to the month where we celebrate love with heartfelt cards, fuzzy stuffed animals and copious amounts of chocolate. Of course, I can get on board with chocolate any time. I still remember the Christmas I got a 5lb bar of Hershey’s chocolate from Dean’s dad and stepmom. #theygetme

Last month, I talked about asking yourself what is pulling you and encouraged each of us to tune in and listen to whatever bubbles up inside of you. This month seems like a time to pivot to how we love and care for ourselves.

Now I completely understand that talking about loving yourself is going to turn some people off. It may smack of a hippy-dippy, flowerchild vibe or just an overall uncomfortable feeling cuz you’re not sure where this is going. #dontmakeitweird

But similar to the idea of listening to yourself and making space to follow whatever is pulling you, what is the harm in just being a little nicer to yourself?

Don’t forget, you are the only person that is ALWAYS with you. Wherever you go there you are. Wouldn’t it be nice if that person was someone you really liked being around? #hellyeah

Suggestions for loving yourself:

  1. Talk kindly to yourself
  2. Don’t “should” on yourself
  3. Do at least one thing every day that makes you laugh
  4. Take naps
  5. When you find what you enjoy, do more of that

The truth is, I have been struggling. Struggling to find my footing in what I’m doing. Struggling to see my value. Struggling to find motivation. #thestruggleisreal

In the midst of all the uncertainty I’m thinking it’s best to go back to the basics. If for no other reason than to give myself a North Star to follow while I’m in floating in this ocean of unknowns.

For me the 2 things that give me the most joy is when I am connecting and creating. My most productive and clear time of creating was when I created something every day, so for the month of February I’d like to take another swing at that. #letsdothis

It’s going to look a little different because I’ve got different goals I’m working toward which will include reworking some older artwork. However, if you enjoyed watching that original 2-year challenge, I think this will be just as entertaining.

For those who may be interested in upping their self-love game then today’s artwork is for you. I took some previous artwork that captures the tone of this month and created wallpaper for your phone to serve as a reminder in between games of Wordle. FULL DISCLOSURE: I’ve never played Wordle, but Dean tells me it’s what all the cool kids are into these days.
