We are coming to the end of an entire year of posting new artwork every single day. There have been a lot of lessons learned the past 365 days. One of those lessons became evident during my “sub-challenge” of creating the 12 Days of Christmas.
Throughout the posts of the 12 days artwork, I noticed an increase in comments and engagement from my audience.
Which has me thinking that theme-challenges have some additional value to offer.
As I look at it, I think there’s a combination of the expected and the unexpected. Everyone is familiar with the song, so part of the appeal was that people already knew what each day was going to be and looked forward to seeing how certain days were handled.
However, each artwork was still subject to my interpretation and unique approach.
The unexpected solution brought an energy and excitement to the comments and feedback I received.
I think this is a way to breathe new life into the work that you share, and potentially bring vitality to your posts. If things have been feeling stale and you aren’t sure what kind of work to share, consider doing a themed series of posts, or possibly your own twist on the idea of the expected & unexpected.
