Sometimes It’s Best to Break A Habit

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut. Doing things a certain way because that’s just what we do. However, it’s always good to evaluate and determine whether “the way we do it” is really getting us where we want.

I’ve been blogging weekly for 77 weeks (and yes, my type-A-ishness does wish the number of weeks was not so random) but I’m thinking it’s time to make some adjustments. [RANDOM GIGGLE I had to add the “ish” to type-A-ishness cuz otherwise it became something else entirely.]

One of my goals for this year is to focus on my audience, the kind souls who allow me to drop into their inbox when I’ve got something to share. You get first dibs on whatever goodies are on tap and I do my darndest to bring you value.

With that in mind, I’m going to modify my rhythm of posting. Instead of posting weekly, I’m going to try batching content differently.

This all came about because I was evaluating how I use my time in a week and identifying which activity is moving the needle on my goals and what had low ROI, return-on-investment. (check out fancy pants business gal)

My current approach worked well during my 2-year challenge, but now it’s taking away time that I want to apply toward new goals. Believe it or not, it can take a chunk of time to put content together and, despite my best efforts, I’ve been unsuccessful in squeezing out more than 24-hours in a day. (Damn you space-time continuum!)

Even though change can be scary, it’s important to audit your time and make sure that you are making progress, not creating busy-work.

So we are gonna give this a go and see what happens. Best case scenario, you don’t notice much of a difference. Worst case, my weekly posting was unknowingly holding a gargantuan asteroid at bay and this decision will release it into our atmosphere causing it to plummet toward earth destroying life as we know it. (If so, that one’s on me — Sorry…)
