When I first set the goal of posting new artwork every day for 365 days, a big hurdle in front of me was how would I think of content every day? At most I had a handful of words and phrases in my mind, but nowhere near what I needed for a full year.
Over the course of the year I worked out a process that helped me to keep up with the ongoing demand for ideas. Once I reached the final day of the challenge I thought, “I’ve managed to finish my entire year-long challenge, surely I will never again have a problem coming up with ideas”. This week marks the shift from completing the daily artwork post challenge from 365 days ago to starting a new year with new goals.

The beginning of a new year is full of opportunity, turning over new leaves, making resolutions, etc. But how many of us don’t make the progress we want to because we are stuck in a pattern of how things “should be” done?

We are coming to the end of an entire year of posting new artwork every single day. There have been a lot of lessons learned the past 365 days. One of those lessons became evident during my “sub-challenge” of creating the 12 Days of Christmas.
Throughout the posts of the 12 days artwork, I noticed an increase in comments and engagement from my audience.
Which has me thinking that theme-challenges have some additional value to offer.… Read More
When creating there is a temptation to follow what others do, especially when we see someone who is successful. We can be drawn to that shiny, polished, completed package and think that they hold the secret we’ve been missing.
For the purposes of learning there isn’t anything wrong with copying. However, there comes a time when you need to establish your own creative voice.
Repeating what others are doing is a disservice to yourself and robs the world of your unique view.… Read More
It is easy to get discouraged when you are putting out content regularly and aren’t getting much engagement from people. We all enjoy the boost that comes from getting a lot of “likes” on a post or when someone takes the time to send a little love via an affirming comment.
This past week I started a theme of doing The 12 Days of Christmas for my daily post. As we are heading into the Holiday Season I wanted to give myself a “project” and I thought doing each of the days would be a fun challenge (and as an added bonus, a holiday product at the end!).
